Cultivating Fortaleza: Strength, Healing and Growth
Meet the Founder
Hi,
I'm Jennifer (Jen), a licensed clinical social worker and the heart behind Fortaleza Health. I provide telehealth therapy to adults across Texas, Virginia, Ohio, and Minnesota, offering a compassionate, collaborative space where healing can unfold at your own pace.
Fortaleza means fortitude in Spanish. It’s the courage to believe that healing and growth remain possible, even in the midst of pain, uncertainty, or fear. Fortitude isn't about avoiding pain, pretending everything is okay, or having all the answers. It's about making space for every part of your experience while allowing yourself the opportunity to hope, heal, and move toward the life you want.
The marigold in my logo is inspired by my Mexican heritage and Día de los Muertos. To me, it represents the idea that we can honor where we've been while continuing to move toward where we want to go. Therapy isn't about forgetting the past or erasing difficult experiences. It's about learning to carry them in a way that allows healing and growth to coexist.
Many of the people I work with have spent years surviving rather than truly living. Chronic stress, anxiety, trauma, grief, burnout, difficult relationships, major life transitions, or the pressure of constantly holding everything together can leave the nervous system feeling overwhelmed and disconnected. Together, we'll work to create greater balance, flexibility, and emotional resilience so life begins to feel more manageable and more like your own.
As a bilingual Latina therapist, I recognize that our identities, cultures, families, and lived experiences shape the way we experience stress, healing, and connection. Therapy should honor those experiences. My goal is to provide care that is culturally responsive, affirming, and grounded in genuine curiosity about your unique story.
My approach is warm, collaborative, and tailored to your individual needs rather than following a one-size-fits-all model. I integrate evidence-based therapies, including Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), mindfulness, and somatic approaches—to help you better understand yourself, regulate your nervous system, and respond to life's challenges in ways that align with your values. Some sessions may focus on exploring difficult emotions, while others may emphasize practical coping strategies, nervous system regulation, or building new patterns that support lasting change. Together, we'll find an approach that fits you.
